Rev. Garrien W. Wilson Sr., 94, of State St., Marion, NC, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000 in a McDowell County Nursing Home.

A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Julius and Hanna Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mabel Moore Wilson and a grandson Gary Wilson. Rev. Wilson was a retired grocer and Baptist minister and was a member of Estitoe Baptist Church in Yancey County.

He is survived by his son G.W. (Bill) Wilson Jr. of Asheville, a sister Hester Hollifield of Marion; grandchildren, Brenda Davis and Charles J.W. Wilson, and Allison Gates; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. John David Stewart officiating.

His family will receive friends 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
