Gerald Lester Surrett, 70, of 446 Early’s Mountain Road, Leicester, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at his residence.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Velda King Surrett. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ken, Gaither, Jim and Ted Surrett. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Surrett is survived by his wife, Barbara McMahan Surrett; a daughter, Melinda Perez of Sandy Mush; a son, Jerry Lee Surrett of VA; sisters, Eva Turner of Sandy Mush and Kay Davis of Henderson, NC; brothers, Joe Ben Surrett of Sandy Mush and Bud Surrett of Leicester and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronald McMahan officiating. Burial will follow at Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
