Gladys Martin Sparrow

Gladys Martin Sparrow, 79, of Arden, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Haywood Co., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Florence Martin. She retired from Westinghouse. Mrs. Sparrow was a Seventh Day Adventist and was devoted to bible study. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Cole B. Sparrow who died in 1981 and two brothers, James Monroe Martin and Leroy Martin. Surviving are one son, Don Sparrow of Arden; three daughters, Nancy Somrak and husband Larry of Horse Shoe, Colleen Sparrow of Asheville and Michelle Britton of Texas; one brother, Paul Maloy Martin of Asheville; five grandchildren, David Davis, Mark Davis and John Britton all of Asheville, Jennifer Arrowood of Candler and Sybil Britton of Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
