Gladys Teague Massey Parris, 87, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021.

An Asheville native, Gladys was a daughter of the late Ernest Clyde and Connie Mae Webb Teague. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Glenwood Harold Massey, and by her brother, Odas Clyde Teague.

Gladys was proud of having served as a past President of the West Asheville Lions Club.

Mrs. Parris is survived by her husband, Luther E. Parris; daughter, Ernestine Plemmons (Rick); sister, Wylma Jean Norton; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Parris will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave with the Rev. Mary Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Attendance for the visitation is limited to 50 individuals and masks are required for the visitation and service.

    So very sorry for your lsos but she is well again iin the arms oof our Lord and Saviior . She was a wonderful person and soo very kind to every one. Little Sandy Chruch was so blessed to have her attending church .with uw. We all missed her smiling face and happy laughter .

  9. So sorry to hear of Gladys’ passing. She was part of the Square D Family and was highly respected and well-liked by all. It was always great to see her at the annual Lions Clubs’ Christmas lunch for the sight impaired. Here for you in spirit and assistance if needed with company life insurance benefits.

  11. Ernestine, I have such fond memories of aunt Gladys during my formative years especially. She was always so sweet and helpful to others. She was strong and fearless. She was polite and well mannered. She was such an asset to those around her. I appreciate her being part of my life.
    One thing that sticks in my mind is this dessert she always made. I think it was called Cherry Jubilee. I would always ask her to make it when we came to visit! I know you lost your best friend. I am sure heaven had a special place just for her.
