Glen C. Hardin Arden – Glen C. Hardin, 54, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Born January 2, 1953 in Marburg, Germany, he was the only child of Clarence and Helen Poderis Hardin of Brevard. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 16 years, Maria Renteria Hardin; three step-children, Jessica Ball, Michelle Sisk Hyder and Robert T. Sisk and seven step-grandchildren. After arriving in Brevard in 1970, he graduated from Brevard High School in 1971 and Brevard College in 1973. In 1976, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, becoming an Electronic Maintenance Specialist in the Air Traffic Control career field at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. He earned an Electronic Associate Degree from Phillips Junior College, Gulfport, Mississippi before being discharged in 1980. Following this period, he started a career in industrial quality control with Eaton Corporation in Fletcher. He remained employed at Eaton until being stricken by diabetes in 2001. Throughout his life he maintained a deep love of the violin and its music. Reaching the accomplished level on the instrument, he was a member of the Republic of Panama and the Asheville Symphony orchestras. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.

  1. Maria – We are so sorry to hear about Glenn’s passing. He has always been a good friend to me and my family and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. I have fond memories of him making such beautiful music at my daughter’s wedding, as well as our Christmas parties at Choice Computer Center.   2. I worked with Glen in the QA Lab for several years at Eaton Corporation. He was a very intelligent and humorous person that I enjoyed as a co-worker. Please accept my sympathy; I am very saddened to hear of his death.
