Grady William Roberson

Grady Roberson, Sr. Candler – Grady William Roberson, Sr., of Upper Glady Fork Road, died Thursday, October 9, 2008. Mr. Roberson was born in Buncombe County on January 6, 1932 to Ray and Edna Cathey Roberson and was husband of the late Catherine R. Roberson for 48 years, who died in 2002. He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Jo, who lives in Turlock, California; two sons, Art who lives in Illinois and Grady who lives in McConnells, SC. He had six siblings with two surviving, James who lives in Peoria, Ill. and Jack who lives in Morristown, TN. He also is survived by his dog, LuLu and his girlfriend Brenda. Mr. Roberson was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and worked as a boilermaker, a small business owner and did small engine repairs. He was a Korean veteran serving with the U.S. Army and his hobbies included going to the flea market, gardening and horses. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Bobby Winebarger. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
