Harry Celwyn Gibbs Sr., 88, of 206 Old US 70, Swannanoa, died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at the Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Charles and Ann Gibbs. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II, a member of the Swannanoa
Valley Lions Club and Swannanoa United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Cochran Gibbs; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harry C. and Sharon Gibbs Jr. of Asheville, David and Diane Gibbs of Apex, NC, Thomas and Judy Gibbs of Weaverville; three sisters, Betty Lanning of Arden, Freida Metcalf of Leesville, SC, Sara Nolet of Daytona, FL; seven grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Lewis Memorial Park with Reverend Dr. Robert Craig
officiating.
His family will receive friends 7-8:00 Monday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.

Everytime I go to Old US 70 I think of the fun we use to have at your house. Lois and Celwyn were great parents. I am sorry you have lost both now but I know they are happy together in heaven. Thinking of You all.
