  1. Sorry to hear about your mother. My mother passed away on February 19, 1989. We both enjoyed your mother when she was active in Eastern Star. You know that your mother is at rest now. You and your family will be in our prayers.

  2. Miss Hazel was a dear Eastern Star friend. I would take her to Chapter meetings and enjoyed her company. We would have occasional lunches, and many conversations on the phone until I had to leave for Seattle and care for my mother. She was moved while I as away. I have and will continue to miss her. Sincerely, Jean McCaig

  3. My friendship with Hazel was one that always left me feeling so good! When I was with Hazel, I always considered it to be a time that I was providing company to an elderly person. But, oh , it was so much more than that!! Ironically, after visiting with her, I would be the one who was feeling so much better! She had a refreshing innocence about her and our combined energy level complimented each other. Hazel taught me so many things and I am reminded of her so often when I use all of the ‘tips’ that she did teach me. Briefly, some of those included: how to make store bought pimento cheese taste like homemade, how to decorate with magnolias and ‘smash’ the end of their limbs so that the water can be absored, thus making them last longer, how to keep party sandwiches moist until the party begins, and how to store Christmas ribbons so that they will look brand new for the next season! I also am reminded of Hazel daily when I use the decanter that she gave me. Our children were members of the Beta Club and every year, the club would host an open house Christmas fundraiser. Hazel helped me to decorate our home twice when our home was featured in the Open House. Also, she would accompany me on the tour of homes. All of my friends would immediately fall in love with her and still ask me about her. I will forever be grateful for the time and knowledge that she shared with me. Vicky McDonald
