Helen Lucille Blackwell

Helen Lucille (Reece) Blackwell, 86, of Asheville, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Wood Assisted Living, Givens Estates. Born in Winston-Salem, she was the wife of the late Norris E. Blackwell, and the daughter of the late Ernest Ira and Lollie Caroline Reece. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Steven Blackwell, a brother, Ernest Ira Reece II, and a sister, Mildred Keller. She was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church and attended services at Norma Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates. Helen was an avid golfer and was a member of the Givens and Hendersonville Bridge Clubs. She also enjoyed croquet and Mah-Jongg. Helen is survived by a daughter, Paula London and her husband Paul Lange of Winston-Salem; a step-daughter, Ellen Kelly and her husband Will of Cary, NC; a granddaughter, Brittany Vola; a sister, Patricia Ann Valencia of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico; and a daughter-in-law, Esther Blackwell. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Norma Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville with Ed Hillman officiating. Friends will be received at a reception to follow. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
