Helen Marie Wicker Walsh, 87, of Asheville, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at JF Keever Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County she was a daughter to the late Jessie A. and Virginia Holtzclaw Wicker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Walsh, Jr..
Survivors include two sons, Frank Walsh (Carol), of Asheville and Melvin C. Walsh, III (Diana) of Fairview; one granddaughter, Deanna Littrell; two great grandchildren and her loving dog and companion, Macy.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a life-long member. Rev. Mike McFarland will officiate and burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the workers at John F. Keever Jr. Hospice Solace Center for the loving care they gave to Mrs. Walsh.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Place D-307, Asheville, NC, 28801.

Mel and Frank, I am so very sorry to hear of Helens passing.we all have so many happy memories through the years, we really loved your mom and dad we really thought the world of both of them. they were really special , I am so blessed to have been apart of the family. I still have the I.D. bracelet they gave me when I graduated. Mother and Dad really loved your mom and dad. we will always cherish the memories.
