Herman Offery Owensby

Herman Offery Owensby, 69, of 37 Suzie Lane, Fletcher died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Buncombe county Mr. Owensby was a son of the late Dorothy Bradley and Jay Looney Owensby. He is survived by his wife Linda Lee King. He retired as a security guard and was an avid fisherman. He is also survived by a daughter, Judy Lee Owensby Norton and her husband David of Horse Shoe NC; a son Tony Offery Owensby; three sisters, Elva Owensby of Fletcher, Annette E. Briggs of Hendersonville and Geraldine E. Franklin of Horse Shoe NC; two brothers Jay L. Owensby of Weaverville and Purney W. Owensby of Skyland; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Jeff Owensby and Mr. Steve Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Franklin, Don Franklin, Dean Owensby, Tim Bryson, Jason Thomas and James Thomas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Wednesday night at the funeral home.
