Hugh Dana O'Kelley, 74, of Hemphill Rd., Asheville, died on Sunday, December 20, 2009, at his residence.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late James McKinley and Lillie Medford O'Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry O'Kelley, by his sisters, Edna and Marjorie, and his brothers, Bruce and Dewey James.
Mr. O'Kelley had retired from Communications Instruments Inc., where he worked as an inspector. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Korea.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Roth, of Asheville; son, James Dana O'Kelley and wife Linda, of Fairview; and sister, Ruth Sosebee, of Clarksville, GA; and granddaughters, Brandi, Jessica, and Kaitlin.
A funeral service for Mr. O'Kelley will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, in Black Mountain, with military honors performed by the Buncombe Co. Veterans Council Memorial Team. Interment will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery.
