Asheville – Inez Cora Stamey Roberts, 77, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Universal Healthcare.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Madison County to the late Bessie and Newton Stamey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mark Mason Roberts who died in 1966.
Mrs. Roberts loved her family and her pets. She also enjoyed exercise and the outdoors. She was employed with Bon Marchè, Belk, and Hamricks and was a member at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four children, two daughters, Deborah Nave and her husband, David of Arden and Karen Keller and her husband, Marc of Asheville; two sons, Steve Roberts and his wife, Becky of Fletcher and Jeffrey Roberts and his wife, Mikki of Arden; a brother, Doyle Stamey (Helen) of Canton; one sister, Nell Dean Bolt (Oscar) of Laurens, SC; six grandchildren, Michelle Lankford (Todd), Amanda Marvelle (Nathan), Lindsey McElreath, Evan McElreath, Jesse Nave and Elijah Roberts and three great grandchildren, Alexa and Lily Lankford and Elizabeth Marvelle.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Burial will follow at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 2, 2012 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memory Care, 100 Far Horizons Lane, Asheville, NC 28803.
So sorry to hear of the death of Inez. We pray God will provide to all the family His peace and comfort during this most difficult time.
I worked with Inez for years at Belk. Loved her sense of humor and honesty. I know she is in a better place now, To the family: So sorry for the loss of your Mother. Karen and all family..I will never forget what a wonderful person Inez was..Working with her at Belk for so many years, she was always funny, a hard worker, and had a smile that would light up her department. Always dressed perfectly and always beautiful..lots of great memories. I know she is at peace. My love and prayers to all.
Loved Mrs. Roberts and praying for the family she leaves behind. We were all richer for having known this precious woman.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was a great lady and I always enjoyed being able to go down and visit with her when she was working. I know you will miss her but she is definitely in a much better place. She was one spunky little lady and I loved her.
