J. Roy Smith, 73, of Asheville, died Monday, August 10, 2015.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late J.C. Smith and Adalene Honeycutt Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Smith.
Mr. Smith worked for American Enka for 23 years. He was an avid antique collector. His greatest joy in life was his family, who he loved spending time with.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Reda Smith; daughter, Kristy Smith; sister, Shirlene Smith-Hinshaw; granddaughters, Kassi Smith and Meghan Smith; grandson, Seth Ledford; great-grandsons Ayden Friedman, Izaiah Smith-Sheridan, Zander Ledford, and Ryker Smith-Garrison.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
Donations may be made to Groce Funeral Home to assist with expenses.

So sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other for many years. He was a good man and will be missed. God’s blessings and comfort to the entire family.
