James C. Webb, 74, of Chowder Cove Rd., died Monday, August 15, 2011, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood Co., he was a son of the late Hewey Baxter and Myrtle Morgan Webb. He was also preceded in death by sons Carroll Hayden Webb and Jamie Webb, and by brother Hayden Webb. Mr. Webb was a retired from Charles D. Owen Manufacturing Co. as a plant supervisor. He attended Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Swannanoa. Mr. Webb and his wife were foster parents for 13 years. He is survived by his wife Mary Holcombe Webb; a daughter, Belinda Faye Moody of Asheville; step-son Robert Wayne Burns and wife Terri of Marion; grandchildren Christopher Burns, Cody Burns, and Julie Lynn Moody; great-grandchildren Skylar Destiny Burns and Hunter Clay Greer; sisters Vivian Scott and husband Archie of Canton, and Ruth Webb Edwards and husband Jack of Swannanoa; his dearest and best friend Cynthia Pinkston; and also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 2176 US 70, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
