James Curtis Snipes, 94, of Asheville, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the WNC Baptist Home.
A native of Greenville Co., he was a son of the late Eugene and Pauline Tripp Snipes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Maney Snipes, and by brothers Ralph and Steve Snipes.
Mr. Snipes was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as the plant manager of Sealtest in Spartanburg, SC. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of the Bond Sales Sunday School Class and held all positions in the church. He was an active member of the Rhododendron Civitan Club for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Harbin and husband Tom of Asheville; granddaughters Cindy H. Holman and husband Tom of Asheville, Molly Just and husband Chris of Pownal, Maine, and Lisa Grice and husband John of Asheville; and great-grandchildren Karlie Grice, Garron and Jordan Greiner, all of Asheville, and another great-grandchild expected in February 2012.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Edgar Ferrell officiating.
The family wishes to the thank the staff at the Baptist Home for the many years of loving care provided to Curtis and Evelyn.
