  3. Happy Birhtday Grandaddy, today you would have been 80! I am sure your first in heaven was more than we can imagine! We all thought of you today, I went and spent the morning and early afternoon with Mamaw. Daddy and Chanda came too. Mamaw misses you so….I know you are watching over her…. She made you some fried apple pies this morning just like she said she would…… I love you Grandaddy,
    Vonda Lee

  4. Grandaddy,
I think back to when I was a little girl, I remember you letting me completely mess up your hair, then combing it for hours, I’ve always thought it was so pretty. Mamaw would let me play in the camper and when you came home from work you would bring a sandwich out and eat with me in the camper. I remember every visit when we got ready to leave it took 20 minutes because you had to carry all 3 of us to the car. I remember the bandanna tied around your head to keep sweat out of your eyes while you worked in the garden. I loved going to the barn with you & then getting a cool drink of water from a gord in the springhouse….. I Love You Grandaddy & I know our precious Lord has you in his arms…. & I have these and many other sweet memories…..

  5. Elsie,
I was so sorry to read in the paper this morning that James had passed away. Even though I am in Georgia and will not be able to attend the funeral, please know that you and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May the peace that passes all understanding be with you and give you added strength during this time. God bless you.

  6. Elsie and family – so sorry to learn of Junior’s passing. I always appreciated the friendship that the two of you showed Mama (Reba Hamilton). She has missed you since moving away. Please know that you are in our prayers and be glad that Junior is in a much better place. Let us know if you need anything.

  7. Mr. Propst has been our good neighbor for 15 years since we moved here and we miss him already.

  8. I can’t be there because I’ll be working the polls, but my love and sympathy are with you. Dennis and I have fond memories of a gentle man in a Model A, with Elsie – in an orange hat – smiling at his side. May your happy memories of James help you smile now through your tears. Barbara A. Hodgson

  9. Elsie,
We are so sorry our prayers are with you and your family.

    Love in Christ,

  10. I was sad when I picked up the paper and saw that my friend and co-worker had passed away. I gave him a copper-head case knife for his retirement that he truly treasured. I hope his son or grandson will enjoy this knife as much as he did. My sincere condolences to the family. Love and prayers. Horace

  11. I am so sorry for the loss of my childrens Grandad. Even though I didn’t get to see him often I will miss him and I know he will be missed by many other friends and loved ones. My prayers and love are with all the family. May God Bless you. Love Wanda

  12. I am sorry to hear of James’ passing. I worked with him for about 5-6 years and he provided us with many laughs and memories. We knew him as Cocky rather than James. I saw him at Cracker Barrel last winter and talked a while with him. He was always the same person I knew every time I saw him. He reminded me a lot of my grandfather as he wore the overalls and white shirt most days. I got to where I could imitate his speech and he used to get the biggest kick out of that. I count him as one of my favorite friends and will truly miss him. My prayers will be with the family during this time.

  13. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Take comfort in remembering that we will all be together again someday.

  15. We love you very much and will miss you,but we know that you are watching over us always and some day we will all be together again. I want to say that i’ve been part of the propest family for three years and my son and i have always been treated as equal as any others and i greatly appreciate it all. Nicholas and grandaddy has the same birthday’s and that seems to be a blessing so now when we celebrate we will remember grandaddy in spirit as in our hearts.Elsie your are in my heart and in my prayers.I love you very much.

  16. Grandaddy,
My heart is just broke, but I know where you are, because you came to tell me on that Sunday afternoon after church. Thank you Grandaddy for allowing the Lord to direct you, I have never forgot how the Lord changed you, and it has always been my reminder that God can do what He says He can do.
You would have been so proud yesterday at your funeral. Preacher Roy was so kind and the service was so sweet. You and Mamaw have so many friends, it just touched Mamaw so much. Your A Model buddies were there, and drove their cars. It was really touching to see all of those cars. They all spoke highly of you and we where all so proud.
When Daddy called me Sunday morning I thought my heart would come out of my chest. I keep thinking of all the things that I wanted to say to you, but I know I will be able to in heaven. So for now I am remembering the good times we have had.
I remember so many things, standing up in the seat beside you in the truck, you loving the way I would say pink, you doing ‘This Little Piggy’on my toes, walking down the road with Mamaw to meet you at the end when you got off work, the candy runs to the Ice Service Store, the watermelons you’d grow for me, riding on the lawn mower to push down the mole hills, Mamaw teaching me to iron your hankies, and how you would wear them around your head when you worked outside, I remember you playing checkers with me, and how we would sit on the couch and Mamaw would bring us ice-cream to eat, helping you hoe potatoes, combing your hair, I will always remember The prize egg at Easter!
All the parades you drove me in, I remember that one in Waynesville that we like to have froze in!

When I started cutting hair, you would bring Mamaw every week and you let me cut yours! I was the first women to cut your hair and perm it!! :0)I remember how you loved for me to shampoo your hair.

I will miss you with all my heart.
I am keeping a close watch on Daddy and will help him and Linda Jean take care of Mamaw. I know I always had a special place in your heart, and you have one in mine.
    I LOVE YOU, GRANDADDY!

Carry me to the car, Grandaddy?
    Chanda Fay
