James Ray McCurry

Mr. McCurry was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late William Troy and Ethel McBee McCurry. He was also preceded in death by wives, Tommie Dorothy Louisa Garrison McCurry who died in November, 1987, and by Vivian Crowder Roberts McCurry, who died in January, 2000.
He was retired from American Enka and attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, James Rodney and Marsha Lane McCurry of Woodburn, KY; one grandson, Michael Rodney McCurry; two sisters, Ernestine Mandeville of Candler and Margaret Shuford of Winston-Salem; and two brothers, Arthur C. McCurry of Weaverville and Carol McCurry of Candler; three step-children, Gerald Roberts, Darlene Buckner, Cheryl Ann Huff and a number of step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene King and Dan McCurry officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mr. McCurry will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
