Mills River - James “Jim” S. McCormack, 50 of Mills River, died Saturday, May 29, 1999.
A native of Asheville, he was the son of the late James F. and Ruby Gourlay McCormack. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam and a member of VFW Post #891.
Surviving are his wife, Susan McCormack; his son, James Stuart McCormack, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA; his step-children, Georgia and Mark Goppert of Cameron, NC and Matt Downs and Tish Johnson of Raleigh.
Jim was a priceless, precious man we were so fortunate to have loved.
A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at 4 pm Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 50 S. French Broad Ave., Asheville, NC 28801.
