James William “Moses” Hudgins, 64, of 20 Deavermont Circle, Asheville, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Arville D. and Ina Louise White Hudgins. He was employed by Wise Dental Lab and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Hudgins is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Elaine Penland Hudgins; four sons, Jeff Hudgins of Candler, Brian Hudgins and Bo Hudgins, both of Asheville and Rodney Hudgins of Leicester; two sisters, Betty Roberts of Hendersonville and Barbara Lanning of Asheville; two brothers, Jack Hudgins and Jerry Hudgins, both of Woodfin; 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Kristen, Naomi, J.C. and Tanner Hudgins and Amber Prestwood. Funeral sevices will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eric Murray, Danny Murray, Tony Hudgins, Jennings Murray, Darrell Hudgins, David Hall, Eric Case and Craig Roberts. His family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, Two Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601.
