Jamison Lee Ross Gibson, 37, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025.
A native of Buncombe Co., Jamison was the son of Lee and Sherry Redmond Gibson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, LW Gibson.
Jamison was President of American Big Rig Racing. He drove the #20 Freightliner in the series and was known as “DK,” the drift king. He worked hard and was always willing to help and give to people in the community. Jamison lived life to the fullest and loved wholeheartedly, especially his family. He and his wife proudly owned and operated three businesses they built themselves: A 1st Choice Well Service, Appalachian Dumpster & Demo, and Appalachian Well Drilling.
Jamison was devoted to his Lord and was a member of Leicester Baptist Church. He was very well loved throughout Western North Carolina and will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing that he is now experiencing Heaven.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Loren Ramsey Gibson; his son and best friend, Jayce Gibson; sister, Jillian Gibson Hawkins (Kent), and their children, Easton and Emma; maternal grandparents, Franklin and Glenda Redmond; and paternal grandmother, Gloria Gibson.
The visitation and funeral service, originally scheduled to be held at Groce Funeral Home, will now be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, at the church, followed by the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Chad Ellege, Leicester Baptist Church, at 1:00 p.m. The burial will then take place at Leicester Baptist Church Cemetery.

I have never met a harder working young man than Jamison. He deeply loved his family and proudly spoke of them everytime we met. He was kind to people, and showed true compassion when most of us would have walked away. He didn’t seem to know a stranger. I am truly honored to have known him. Prayers sent to his family at this most sorrowful time.

Lee, Sherry, and Family; you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I never saw Jamison where he wasn’t smiling, and he had one of the best attitudes in the world. I am reminded in II Samuel 12:23 where David says, “I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me”. Thank God for our Blessed Hope in Jesus Christ that we will see him again one day.

The tragedy of losing a son is devastating to a mother. The loss to the father, the wife, the child, all family and friends is a heartbreak unbearable, the pain incomprehensible, but I know the grief is real, so unyielding. Praying that as our Heavenly Father spreads His wings of comfort over you, He will lift you up and carry you through this journey. Though the journey never ends while here on Earth always remember God is with you as Jamison awaits us all.

You could tell the love he had for his family.
