Lillian “Janet” Reeves Stewart, 86, of Candler, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

A Candler native, Janet was the daughter of the late Atley Larkin and Laura Louella West Reeves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glenn Stewart; son, Charles Jack Stewart; and daughter, Glenna Stewart Pope.

She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Stewart Higdon (Charlie); brother, David Reeves (Delores); four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Interment will follow at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stewart was a faithful member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church for over 75 years. Her family and faith was most important to her. Having resided in Reeves Cove her entire life, serving the community and church carried her through many hard times. Through all her days, she never lost her faith and heart of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 18 Qualla Dr., Candler, NC 28715.
