Janice Shuford Parris, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 17, 2025.
Janice was born on March 10, 1956 in Buncombe county to the late James Ray Shuford and Joan Evans.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Steve and her father, Ray. Their heavenly reunion brings comfort to those who loved her deeply.
She is survived by her three children, Josh, Jeremy, and Melisa (Jeff), who were the pride and joy of her life, as well as her loving mother, Joan Evans. She was a proud and devoted grandma to Skye, Riley, Tyler, Ayden, Jadon, Julia, Jaxon and Jamus. Each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Janice spent many years working in the medical field, where she formed lifelong friendships that became family. She loved reading, spending time at the beach, and being present for her grandchildren-cheering for them on the ballfields, going to dancerecitals, and supporting them every chance she could.
Her kindness, strength, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and the deep devotion she showed to her family.
A funeral service will be held on December 29, 2025 at 12pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Family and Friends are invited to attend and honor her life. A visitation will take place following the service at Averys Creek United Methodist Church.
