Janie Irene Wood

Janie Irene Wood, 78, of Asheville, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Laurels of Greentree. A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Vergie Pressley Wood. She was retired from Burlington Industries and a member of Balsam Baptist Church. Ms. Wood is survived by a sister, Barbara Jean Wood of Gastonia; five brothers, Carl Wood of Candler, James Milas Wood of Waynesville, Thomas Wood, Wesley Wood and Hershel Wood; a sister-in-law, Helen Wood; two nieces, Mary Bryson and Marlene Parris; two nephews, Bruce Wood and Gary Wood. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
