Jean MacKenzie Frye

Mrs. Frye was born in Paisley, Scotland, was a daughter of the late John and Jean Emerson Marshall MacKenzie, and was married to the late Robert L. Frye. She had lived in Asheville since 1957 and retired from the Weather Records Center (NOAA). She was a member of the American Business Womens’ Association and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie J. MacFarlane of Tucson, AZ, Dr. Andrea Jean (Ajay) Carpenter and her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Gary Carpenter of San Antonio, TX, and Jeanie Emerson Frye and her husband David L. Haynes of Cornelius, NC; a son, Robert L. “Bob” Frye, Jr. of Loveland, CO; and four grandchildren, David MacKenzie Haynes of Cornelius, and Andrea Lynn, Robert Joseph, and Kimberly Jean Frye of Loveland, CO.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Piney Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Swannanoa.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, February 5,2000, at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Kimberly C. Richter will officiate at both services.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802, or to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 789 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804.
