Jeffrey "Jeff" Brian McGuire, 42, of Arden, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Carolyn McCall McGuire of Arden and of the late Gerald Lee McGuire who died in 2010. He worked for Empire Distributors for 16 years and was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for fishing. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Emilie McGuire and Mallory McGuire, both of Waynesville; his partner, Sandi Hardie of Arden; two step-daughters, Tori Doan of Arden and Kara Wayman of Waynesville; three sisters, Cindy Lindsey, Wendy Kilpatrick and Kim McGuire, all of Arden; one niece, Stephanie Kilpatrick; one nephew, Justin Lindsey, as well as several other extended family members. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Avery's Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a memorial contribution in Jeff's memory to a charity of one's own choice.

  4. We will never forget our cheerleading days with Mr Mom (Jeff). He was a wonderful dad who loved his girls. He knew what it meant to be a father. We are just heartbroken for the girls, Kim and sweet Nana. Prayers for the coming days for you all.

  6. I knew jeff more when i was a younger boy he was friends with my step father steve cook. jeff was a great friend and loved to go fishing.i am very sorry for the family and friends. i will pray for u all.

  7. So sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. I remember Jeff fondly from Valley Springs then Estes Elementary and so on through high school. My prayer is that God’s love and mercy embrace and heal Jeff’s family.

  10. I am sorry to hear about Jeff. I worked with him during his time at Empire. Everyone in this area that knew Jeff were very saddened to hear about him passing. He was admired by everyone especially me. May God bless all his family during this diffuclt time.

  11. I knew Jeff from delivering wine with skyland distributing where i am still employed. We would run into each other usually delivering to a store and joke about who worked for the better company. This was 12 years ago. I remember always talking about fishing with him. We joked around a lot but always got our work done. I saw him not too long ago and we always said hi to each other. I was very sad to hear of his passing. I lost my father in August so know how you must feel. Jeff was great to be around and always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

  12. Joan, Cindy, Wendy, Kim, there are not enough words to say we are so Sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing away. He will surely be missed by everyone he knew. He always was Smiling. We remember coming up when his girls were small and had great time. Sure going to MISS HIM….
