Jerry Franklin Rhew, 56, of Smith Road, Leicester, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, August 1, 2013. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and he worked with the US Postal Service for 23 years.
He was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Baptist Church. Jerry was dedicated to his Lord and to his family. He was a committed prayer warrior and passionate about soul winning.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Ledford Rhew; daughter, Heather R. Hudgins and her husband Darin; daughter, Miranda R. Turbyfill and her husband, Chad and loving "Papa" to Dalton, Kyleigh, Emma, Maicey, Payton, and Allie.
Also his parents, Jack Franklin Rhew and Juanita Raines Rhew; father in law, Claude Ledford and his wife Freda; brother in law, Jay Ledford. Sisters Jan R. Cleveland; Judy R. Lanning and husband Jim, brother Jock Rhew and wife Cindy; sister Kathy R Wallace and husband Danny and 12 nieces and nephews.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his mother in law, Joyce Williams Ledford, and sister in law, Pam Ledford.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, August 5, at Trinity Baptist Church, Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, August 6, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph Sexton Jr., and Revs. Allen Rash and Donnie Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

Our neighbor was suffering from cancer and unable to walk to her mailbox. Jerry found out about this and he put a mailbox at her front door. He was so kind and considerate of others. He will be missed by everyone on Race Path Way. May God be with you, his family.
The Earth continues to spin on its axis even in times it seems it shouldn’t. The World would have been well advised to pause, at least momentarily, at the loss of Jerry. He was patient, gentle, kind and loving. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. I for one keenly feel his loss. Donna, Heather, Miranda – my heart is with you and your family. I am deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Jerry. I know he is loved very much and I pray that God will give you the peace that transcends all understanding.
I am honored to have worked with Jerry at West Asheville Post Office. He is one of the finest men I have ever known and I have been blessed by having known him.
I remember praying with him and talking about our Lord on a daily basis. Jerry always had time to share his faith with others. He will be missed by all. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I talked to Jerry a long time last Sunday morning. He said he would pray for our daughter who was having surgery on Tuesday. He was one of the kindest, most godly people we have ever known. Alway’s with a smile and a kind word.We loved to hear him teach,and pray.

I am and continue to be in the state of shock. I saW Jerry almost everyday at the Fast Break Store. We talk a great deal. We talked about the Bible and how the world had changed,etc..
