Jerry Lee Queen, 63, of Asheville, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Glenn "Speedy" and Roxie Holden Queen. Mr. Queen was a West Asheville Business Man. Together with his brother, he was the co-owner for forty-two years of J&J Cab Co., doing business as Yellow, Blue Bird, Red, and Beaver Lake Cabs. He also co-owned Speedy's Used Parts for thirty-five years. Mr. Queen is survived by his wife, Linda Sparks Queen; brother James F. Queen and wife Cathy; and nephew Benjamin Queen. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Bennett and his son Todd Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

    We are very sorry to hear about Jerry. He was a very wonderful man. We can not count the number of times he has helped us and our family members on a personal level. We have fond memories of the days at Asheville Speedway the racing years. Both Jerry and Jim have been a great part of our daily lives here at Smokey Mountain Auto Service also. He will be dearly missed.

  9. I only knew Jerry for what seems like a very short time, but in that time I found out real quick he was a man of integrity and a very true friend. I know he will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, I know I am very sorry he has gone. My heart goes out to Linda, Cathy, Ben and especially Jim. Jim I know was not just a brother to Jerry but much much more than that, I don’t think I have ever witnessed two brothers closer than those two. May God bless and guide you thru this terrible time and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  11. Jim and Linda .I have known Jerry [Jody] for 45 years and have loved him like a brother. I am so sorry for your lost but always remember the good times,the laughter,the smiles, and most of all his heart of gold. He will never be forgotten.. I enjoyed talking and conversing with Jerry. He was like a teacher, I would always walk away richer in knowledge. Jerry always had time for you and was glad to help you in anyway he could. He was a very giving person to anyone in need.
