Jessie Bell "Jaye" Alexander, 97, of 259 Westwood Place, Asheville, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Mrs. Alexander was born on the Biltmore Estate and was a daughter of the late James Edward and Kelly Mae Capps Bell. She was married to James Marshall Alexander, who died in 1985. Mrs. Alexander worked early in her career with the Biltmore Creamery on the Biltmore Estate and also worked at Ivey's and Anthony's. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Molly Alexander Haskell and husband, Keith; three sons, Edward Wyatt Alexander and wife, Nancy, Marshall David Alexander and wife Trudy, and James Mitchell Alexander and wife, Estelle; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Alex Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley officiating. Interment will be at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  1. To all my little Alexander buddies!! We have lost our mom,but Heaven has gained a wonderful new lady, that is finally home with her Jesus and her loving husband Jim. Everyday when I pass Aston Park I think about her. She truly was the Queen of Westwood Place! Always smiling, laughing, sharing and always telling others about her Lord Jesus Christ!   12. Having known Jaye all my life attending church with her, she was so very special to me and all who knew her. Always to the point and that great sence of humor.   20. Jaye was a very good friend to my mother (Irene Hart) and you could always see them sitting together in church and sometimes going out to lunch after services. It is really hard to lose your mother but you were blessed to have her with you for so many years. Be comforted by all the happy memories and know that many friends are thinking about you at this sad time.
