Jillian McKelvy Johnson, Ph.D. (77) died Wednesday, March 8th at CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. She has been a resident of Asheville for nine years after retiring from Spalding University in Louisville, KY. She was married to K.W. Johnson of the Teals Mills community in Chesterfield County for nearly 35 years. She and K.W. have property (Johnson Experimental Forest) at 4788 Teals Mill Road, Chesterfield, S.C.
An accomplished professor and administrator Jillian shared her abilities, talents and spirit in Albuquerque, Melbourne, Seattle, Anchorage, and Louisville. One of her professional accolades was the creation and implementation of an accredited MSW at Spalding University. Travelling around the world, her intelligence, quick wit and passion for the outdoors created a web of friendships everywhere she went. Her many friends and family have felt and commented on the void in the world her passing has created.
Jillian is survived by her husband, K.W. Johnson, sons Jeffrey and Michael (Heather), two grandchildren and siblings, Rebecca McKelvy of Fletcher, NC, Michael McKelvy of Denver, CO and Eric McKelvy of Denver, CO.
