John David Carter, 77, of Asheville, was called to His heavenly home on Thursday, December 12, 2013 while at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe County, John was born April 2, 1936 at Faith Cottage. John grew up at Eliada Home for Children.
John was a veteran of the US Army. He was formerly employed at the Greensboro Police and Fire Department, Sears Roebuck and Company and Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Services.
He was a loving faithful friend and the ultimate southern gentleman. His faith in God, kind heart and advocacy for late deafened adult was an inspiration to all who knew him. John served on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advisory Board. He attended Trinity Church, Chapel for the Deaf.
A celebration of John's life will be Friday, January 17th at 12:00 noon at the Western Carolina State Veterans' Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
