John Martin "Whitey" Whiteside

John “Whitey” Martin Whiteside age 64, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1961, in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Wilma (Umfleet) Whiteside & Martin Lafayette Whiteside.

Whitey is survived by his son, Rafe Dylan Whiteside of Clyde NC; granddaughter Everleigh Whiteside; niece and husband Courtney and Stuart Bell; great nephews Drew Harrison & Cameron Bell and great niece Maya Bell.

Whitey was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Sally W Coin and nephew Robbie Coin.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life during a visitation from 3:30-5:30 PM on Thursday, February 27 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at Terra Nova, 101 S Lexington Ave, Asheville from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Whitey was the sweetest person with an infectious laugh. Anyone that knew him loved him and he will be missed by his family and many life long friends.
