JOHN R. GRIFFIN
John Raymond Griffin, 62,
of 451 Kenilworth Road, Asheville,
died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at his
home.
Mr. Griffin was born in
Buncombe County and was a son of
the late Howard George Griffin and
Marie Letterman Griffin Rice. He was
the retired owner of the Skyway and
Farrwood Motels and was a member
of the Asheville Moose Lodge on
Leicester Highway.
He is survived by his
companion, Ron Harbin; his
step-mother Dorothy Griffin of
Brevard; two sisters, Lois “Sis” Rice
and Willa Dean Coleman of Asheville;
two brothers George Griffin and his
wife Minnie of Asheville and James
Griffin and his wife Charlene of
Georgia; one half-sister, Sandra
Griffin of Brevard; three half brothers
Billy, Dennis and Kenneth Griffin of
Brevard; and two step-sisters Thelma
Rice and Ruth Watson of South
Carolina.
Funeral services will be at
2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton
Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral
Home with the Rev. Kenneth Ingle
officiating. Burial will be at New
Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive
friends at the funeral home from 7:00
- 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.
Donations may be made in
care of Groce Funeral Home, 1401
Patton Avenue, Asheville NC 28806,
to help defray expenses.
May the lord take his course in this
serious matter.
