Born in:
Asheville, NC
Resided in:
Asheville, NC
Surrounded by his devoted family, John Wayne Creasman completed his earthly journey a few days short of his 83rd birthday after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
A native of Buncombe County, Wayne was born on June 11, 1941, to Ed and Relda Robeson Creasman. He was a 1959 graduate of Lee Edwards High School and attended Blanton’s Business College before serving six years in the Army National Guard. He was co-owner of C&C Chemical Company, a business that he started with his brother Bill in 1972 in Asheville.
Wayne was known for his great sense of adventure, humor and community. In his earlier years he owned and showed horses, loved and cared for all God’s creatures, wild and domestic, and particularly loved his dogs.
He enjoyed a strong passion of Gospel music and his favorite joy was gathering around the family piano with family members and singing old and new hymns which he knew by heart. He particularly loved to sing with his out-of-town cousins, Ken and Kevin Creasman as their fathers did before them. He loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could at his farm in Georgia hunting, fishing, and just enjoying all things nature provides.
First in Wayne’s life was his devotion to his tight-knit family. He is survived by his sister, Virginia “Ginger” Young; brother, William “Bill” Creasman (Joan); sister-in-law, Louise Creasman; nephews, John T. Creasman (Tandace) and Jeremy D. Creasman (Carrie) and their son, Will; nieces, Debra Young Brown (David), Melissa Coleman Jackson (Kane), Elizabeth Coleman and Donna Young Kocot (Marty); nephews, Drew Kocot and Matt Kocot (Leah), Steven Manuel, Johnny Manuel (Torey); great-great-nephews, Callan Kocot, Asa Manuel and son, David Lindsey Creasman; and a granddaughter Rachel.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Edwin Creasman and Thomas L. Creasman; a niece, Julia Diane Manuel; and a brother-in-law, Jim Young.

John was one of the first people I met when I moved to Statesville, NC over 36 years ago, and I worked for the City of Statesville. He was a chemical salesman who quickly became a friend and gave me great advice through the years. He told jokes, made you laugh at any and every thing, and was a great golf player. You couldn’t help but smile or laugh when John showed up. We both enjoyed gospel music and each other’s company. John was a gentleman and one of the finest persons I’ve ever known.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers for the family. He was a sweet man.
I am so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I know the family took very good care of him in his last few years. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love, Lora
Wayne was the one true, best friend I could have ever had. 63 years ago, we
met while working at Dayco, and served in the military together at Ft. Jackson. Over the years it didn’t matter if it was a simple card game, horseshoe, a good golf game, or just heart-to-heart conversation he was always there with me. To say I will miss him is an understatement. However,I am comforted to know he is no longer suffering with the terrible disease that ravaged his body. Janie and I send our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to the entire Creasman Family. I know you will hang on to the fond memories you have of him as I will do. Until we see each other again, Rest In Peace my buddy.
My husband is at Aston Park and I passed Mr Creasman every day. I always said good morning tho he appeared to be sleeping. One morning for whatever reason I didn’t. He said “don’t walk by without saying hello”. Made my day. He had an amazing voice could hear him singing often. I miss seeing him Such a sweet man.
Wayne was like a brother and will be greatly missed.. we played golf and bowled together .. and hunted in Georgia together..
Wayne and I have been friends since the 7th grade. Always enjoyed stopping by his company and reminiscing about the good olds in West Asheville. He will be missed by many friends.
Prayers for the family and sweet memories.
