Fletcher ~ John Wayne Duncan, 63, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2003, at his home after a battle with cancer. Mr. Duncan was a native of Buncombe County. He was a son to the late Myrtle Calloway and Buford Albert Duncan and also was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Carl Duncan. Mr. Duncan worked for NCI from which he retired after 43 years of service. He was a member of Buckeye Baptist Church in Swannanoa and also was a lifetime member of the Asheville Elks Club # 608. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Clark Duncan; two sons, Alan Keith Duncan of Asheville; Larry Wayne Duncan of Richmond VA; one sister, Peggy Gant of Swannanoa; three brothers, Sam Duncan, Robert Duncan and David Duncan all of Swannanoa; seven grandchildren, Christa, Jeni, Peggy, Jodi, Kady, Sean, Holly and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. James Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, PO Box 2395, Hendersonville NC, 28793.

  2. I worked with John many years ago back in the early 60’s.I really liked John every one did hope to see him again some day. I’m so sorry for his passing I know he will not have to suffer any more. Bob. Johnson
