Joseph John Kospa III

Joseph John Kospa III, age 57, passed away peacefully Monday, January 20, 2025 at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC.

A lover of race cars from an early age, Joe spent his early years watching dirt modified racing at Lebanon Valley Speedway and as an adult, Sunday afternoons were for Nascar. For many years he would join in with neighborhood friends during the week to prepare a car for a racing team at Myrtle Beach Raceway.

Joe was a huge Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan.

Many of Joe’s favorite childhood memories were spending time with his paternal grandparents at Kospa Farm and his maternal grandparents at Woodland Hills campground.

Joe was predeceased by his mother, Christine Stone Mattiske of Myrtle Beach, SC; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Irene Kospa of East Greenbush, New York and maternal grandparents, Walter, and Virginia Stone of Nassau, New York.

Joe is survived by his father, Michael Kospa and stepmother, Maryann of Albany, NY; son, Michael Kospa and his wife Chelsea and grandson, Jett Kospa and granddaughter, Zoey of Arden, NC; stepson, Win Hill of Troy, Missouri; brother, Justin Kospa of Albany, NY; former wife Judy Edwards of Valdese, NC; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Private memorial for the family will be held March 1, 2025 in Nassau, New York.

Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road assisted the family.
