Joseph Ted Snipes

December 1, 1926 ~ February 19, 2002

Mr. Snipes was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Joseph Ed and Mary Hendrix Snipes. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was retired from the City of Asheville Water Department. He was a former member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alethea Chandler Snipes; one daughter, Ann Branson and her husband Gary of Asheville; one son, Sam Snipes and his wife Wilma of Asheville; two grandsons, Randy Snipes and his wife Charlene of Asheville and Jason Snipes of Candler; and several nieces and nephews, including a nephew Joe Moore of Rutherford County.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Mullis officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of his daughter, Ann Branson, 125 Shelburne Road.

One of the things I have missed since moving away from Asheville in 1998 was speaking with Ted on the amateur radio repeaters. He always carried a smile in his comments on the air. I am thankful that I got to know Ted. 73 my friend from N1ND
