Joyce Robinson Rector

Joyce Robinson Rector went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2025 after a prolonged illness.

Joyce was born in Marshall, NC to the late Ed and Queen Waldrup Robinson and spent the majority of her life in the Asheville area. Joyce was employed by Square D Co. for a number of years and later went to work for the Federal Government, and was a Revenue Officer for the IRS at the time of her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dennis E. Rector, and brothers, Guy, Carl and Gay Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Brad D. Rector; her sister, Ann Robinson Ricker; brother-in-law, Keith (Patty) Rector; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce will always be remembered for her warm smile and welcoming nature that ensured all who visited her felt right at home. She was a quiet, but confident and steady loving wife, mother and aunt. She and Dennis were frequent hosts for summer time family gatherings around the pool and Joyce especially enjoyed creating a space for her extended family to spend time together and share an always amazing meal. Her home was a warm, and fun place where many happy family memories were created. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Ashelawn Garden of Memory.
