Julian Neil Hawkins, formerly of Blue Ridge Avenue, Asheville, died Friday, February 18, 2005, in a Decatur, GA, medical center after an extended illness.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Clarence and Bertha Duckett Hawkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kazue Fukuda Hawkins who died in 1998. A US Army veteran of WWII and Korea, he was retired
from Eckerd Corporation where he worked as a pharmacist.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by two daughters, Juliana H. King of Decatur, GA and Charlotte H. Lightell and her husband Kenneth of Elizabeth City; a son, Neil
Charles Hawkins and his wife Annmarie of Midland, MI; a sister, Barbara H. Phelps of Maryland; three grandchildren, Jennifer Denise King of Decatur, GA, Rachel
Marie Hawkins and Deborah Lynn Hawkins, both of Midland, MI.
His family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 21st at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that, in lieu of flowers,
memorials be made to Hawkins Special Educator Endowed Scholarship Fund, Midland Area Community Foundation. Please contact midlandfoundation.com or

Private entombment will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

charlotte & family, so sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He was a good pharmacist, a great teacher, & a close friend.
I value the time I was able to spend with him.
