On Tuesday, July 24, 2007, Sandra, Patsy and Nancy gave up the care of their beloved “Daddy”, Junior Floyd Autry, to Jesus. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Born June 22, 1922, in Spruce Pine, he was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Ethel Simmons Autry, sisters Annie McKinney and Myrtle Wilson, and brothers Lucian, Howard, Ray and Ralph.

He loved his family and his home. He fought in the Philippines during WW II for five years and while in the Army he traveled all over the US and South Pacific. Today a soldier is coming home. He worked as a foreman at Concrete Products Co. for 31 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Emily Hipps Autry; three daughters, Sandra Price, Patsy Biggs and Nancy Thomas and her husband, Jerry, of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Lewis Price, Stacy Wise and her husband, Eric, Susan Price, Sammy Biggs, Christina Belcher, David Carver and his wife Robin, and Brent Carver and his wife, Kathryn; and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to Susan Price who unfailingly gave Daddy all his shots every day.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev.Larry Collins officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

  5. I NEVER GOT TO KNOW UNCLE JUNEBUG THAT WELL. MOST OF MY MEMORIES OF HIM WAS AT AUNT ANNIE’S POLISHING ON HIS T-BIRD AND LISTENING TO THE RACES. HE ALWAYS REMINDED ME OF GRANDPA DALE.MY SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE LOOSING YOUR PARENT.

I know how it feels to lose someone you love. Just know that he is not suffering anymore and he is with our sweet Jesus. He has a perfect body and if walking on streets of gold in Heaven.   8. My heart goes out to you. I know that my grandparents, Ray and Leatha really loved Uncle Junior and so did my mom, Barbara and so do I. I remember many times growing up seeing Daddy Ray and Uncle Junior tackeling many projects together.
