Katherine Holder Coffey

Katherine Holder Thackston Coffey, 91, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals. Born in Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Newton Holder and Etta Mae Pope Holder. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Thackston; a son, Jimmy Thackston; a brother, Charles Holder; sisters, Mildred Allen, Lucille Steele and Aileen Vaughn. She was a former resident of Charlotte where she retired from the Mecklenburg County School System and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Since returning to Asheville she attended Grassy Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Brake of Asheville and Mary Lee Zibelin of West Palm Beach, FL; one brother Thomas N. Holder, Jr. of Asheville; two grandchildren, Thomas and Kathy and one great-grandchild, Dylan. Graveside services will be 12:00 noon Saturday at Forest Lawn West Memorial Park in Charlotte.
