Katherine J. Morris

Asheville – Katherine J. Morris, 73, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Oaks at Sweeten Creek. Katherine was born in Detroit, Michigan and was raised in Southfield, Michigan. She was daughter of the late Josephine McVean and Forrest Hill and was preceded in death by a son, James D. Morris. She relocated to Asheville in 1988 to be near her daughter, Jane. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and was very proud to be a great-grandmother. She was always helping her neighbors and friends. Katherine was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church and a member of the D.O.E. She worked as a caregiver for many of the elderly for a number of years and was very proud of the work she did. Surviving is a daughter, Jane K. Owen of North Carolina, two sons, David P. Morris of Florida and Charles A. Morris of Michigan. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Mark, Courtney, Roger, Christopher, Jamie, Melissa Ellis-Morris and Katie Owen. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Aedan Ellis-Morris and Tristan Ellis-Morris. A memorial service for Katherine will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Sam McLamb officiating.
