KATIE MEGAN BARTRUM ASHEVILLE - Katie Megan Bartrum, 18, of Bear Creek Lane, died on Monday, January 10, 2011. A native of Buncombe Co., she was the daughter of Christy Michelle Bartrum. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by brothers Colton P. and Kaleb P. Bartrum; grandmother Pamela McLarty; grandfather Wade Miller; favorite aunt Noel Gallagher; uncle Bobby McLarty; and special nephew Caden Chapman. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Wade Miller officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Groce Funeral home to help with funeral expenses. We will miss you Katie Bug.

  1. My heart and prayers go out to Katie’s family. I am so sorry for your pain and suffering. She was a beautiful young lady, whom I got to know through her Grandmother Pam, I pray for strength and courage to help you all through life without her. Remember they never really leave us, we keep them alive by our memories and stories of them. I know she was Pam’s Katie Bug, she always shared that with us! God Bless You All!

I work with Katie’s grandmother Pam and have only met Katie one time, but feel like I have known her through all of Pam’s stories of her. She truly was a blessed young lady to have such a loving Grandmother. I hope all of you can find peace and comfort during this time and lean on one another for support. I remember her telling me that she had the time of her life. The family will have the pictures from the trip to remember that special time together.

  10. Dear Katie’s Family,

    We have never met you – but my children and I had the great honor to get Katie a present for Christmas. My kids, age 6, 10, 12 & 20 picked out the candles, the netted basket & fuzzy socks. Please know that all of us are crying for your loss and praying for you all. Her picture – she is so beautiful! I know she was such a blessing – you can see the sweetness in her face. Thank you for allowing us to be an unknown part of her life. Katie has touched each of our lives and one day we will meet her face to face. God bless you all!
