Kelly Burton Massie, 87, of 78 Beaverdam Loop Road, Candler, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Massie was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Joseph Talmadge and Bessie Henson Massie. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Clarence D. Massie, Charles Massie and Wildie Mae Rush and two grandchildren, Renay Massie and Vicky Massie. He was a mechanic and operated Massie Amoco Service for eleven years and more recently was the owner and operator of an automobile garage. He was a member of Browns View United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Brock Massie; one daughter, Barbara Jean Lindberg and her husband Doug of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, J. B. Massie and his wife Anne, Bobby Massie and his wife Brinda, Bill Massie and his wife Billie Jo, all of Candler; one sister, Francis M. Howell of Candler, two brothers, T.A. Massie and Glen Ray Massie, both of Candler; and seven grandchildren, Barbie Jenson, Timothy Massie, Andy Massie, B.J. Massie, Vanessa Lindberg, Greg Lindberg and Courtney Lindberg and his great-grandson, to be born soon, Jacob Zachery Massie.

Graveside services will be at 2 pm Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Revs. Ed Worley and John Erwin officiating.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
