kimberly gordon

August 12, 1956 ~ September 13, 2025

Born in: Dunlap, Illinois
Resided in: Fletcher, North Carolina

Kimberly Colette (Rogers) Gordon, 69, joined the Heavenly Praise Team on Saturday, September 13, 2025. She passed away at Care Partners Hospice Solace Center after battling brain cancer for 6 months.

Kim was born on August 12, 1956, to Colette Rogers (Schmillen) and Fred Rogers in Dunlap, Illinois, where she grew up. She attended Dunlap High School and graduated in 1974. Kim then attended Illinois State University, where she majored in mass communications. She graduated with a B.S. from ISU in 1978.

She married Stephen Gordon in 1987. Kim was a creative soul who loved music and her family. She extended welcome and hospitality to those around her. During her life she was a reliable daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, television producer/director/technician, music teacher, image consultant, and beloved confidant. Kim’s loved ones will remember her words of wisdom, beautiful laughter and voice, along with her healthy supply of chocolate and KJ, and, of course, her strong dislike of multiflora rose and Bradford pear trees.

Her husband, children Kathleen (Charles), Emily (Michael), and Stephen II (Whitney), and her grandchildren Corwin, Selah, Jillian, Laurel, William, Alexandra, Harper, and Stephen III survived her.

A Celebration of Life with Christ service will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 am at Trinity of Fairview (646 Concord Rd, Fletcher, NC) with visitation to follow. At Kim’s request, you are encouraged to wear your celebratory colors.

The family prefers memorial contributions to Samaritan’s Purse (P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607) instead of flowers.

Groce Funeral Home’s Lake Julian team is assisting the family.
