L. G "Tom" Rush, 96, of Hayesville, died Friday, July 28, 2006. Born on March 9, 1910, in Bristol, VA, he was a son of the late William and Margaret Rush and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Willa Mae "Boots" Massie Rush; five sisters and seven brothers. He was retired from American Enka after 43 years of service. Survivors include his second wife Ernestine Rush; her daughters, Norma Moody and husband Jack of Hayesville and Linda Downs and husband Ronnie of Candler; his son, Lonnie Ray Rush and wife Joyce of Candler; a sister, Mattie Giles of Danville, VA; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a very special family, Charles and Lynn and their two sons, Cliff and Matthew, of Waynesville. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Reverend Kirk Hatherly officiating. His family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. At other times, the family will be at the homes of Linda and Ronnie Downs and Lonnie Ray and Joyce Rush.

  1. So Sorry to hear about Tom. I have often thought of Tom and Ernestine over the years. I remember Tom as a loving person ,someone that cared very much.When I was young he gave me a lot of needed advice. We will all miss him. LOVE IN CHRIST WE WILL SEE HIM AGAIN
