Lewis Candler, 77, of Asheville, passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2014.
Born on September 29, 1936 and raised in Buncombe Co., Lewis was the son of the late Floyd and Gertrude Conner Candler.
For the past 22 years, Mr. Candler was employed by Buddy Roberts Classic Paint and Body. He was a member of Westwood Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Candler is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie Murray Candler; two daughters, Diane Candler Biggs (Ted), of Melbourne, FL, and Cathy Candler Netherton (Lynn), of Leicester; three grandchildren, Denice Netherton Helton, Tony Biggs, and Sherrie Biggs Childers; 10 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tristen, Tyler, Nathan, Evey, Jodi, Briar, Byron, Brock, and Kendall; brother, Loyd Candler (Barbara), of Elizabethtown, KY, and their son, Todd (Kathy) and their son Chris, of Carrollton, GA.
A graveside service for Mr. Candler will be on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Baird officiating.
His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
