Lillian "Nanny" Brock, 88, of 341 Beaverdam Loop Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7th, 2015, at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Brock was born on June 24th, 1926 in Candler, NC. Lillian was the daughter of the late Monnie W. Guy and Willis C. Guy. She was also preceded in death by her husband Warren G. Brock, son Warren G. "Little Tanker" Brock Jr, brother Marvin Guy, sister Evelyn "Toostie", and son in-law Lonnie "Biggie" Warren.
Lillian lived all of her life in Buncombe County. She graduated from Candler High School and worked many years at the American Enka Plant where she retired in 1987. After retirement, Nanny spent her time in the garden and flower fields, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan and never missed a game, was a wonderful cook, and made the best home-made pies in Candler. Nanny loved her family with all her heart and they loved her with all their hearts.
Mrs. Brock is survived by her son, Ronnie Brock and his wife, Susan; three daughters, Carolyn Whitted and her husband, Bill "Whitt", Beth Warren, and Linda Greene and her husband, Dan; brother, Alvin "Sonny" Guy and wife Ruby; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday and a memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. The Rev. Carl Toth will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials made to the CarePartners Foundation Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
Gentle…loving…kind…patient…caring…friend…my 12 year old son Cody Ricketts best friend since he was 5 years old…what a gift to know and be loved by such a lady…always welcome no need for an invite…a hug…some cola and plenty of candy for eating while visiting and pockets full for later!! Such a pretty lady inside and out…one of a kind….family and friends you are in our thoughts and prayers…
