Lillie B. Moody, 82, of Fletcher, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Sadie Gasperson Butler. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Brown, who died in 2002.
Lillie and her first husband owned and operated Brown’s Pottery in Arden for over 50 years and in her younger years, she made jewelry for Thompson’s Jewelry. She was passionate about her church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved not only her family, but also her neighbors and friends, as well as angels, nature, flowers, butterflies and birds.
Lillie’s family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Williams and the staff of the Hope Center for their compassionate care. They also wish to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of CarePartners Hospice for their genuine compassion and care for Lillie.
She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Moody; two sons, Charles Brown and his wife Jeanette, of Arden and Robert Brown of Eureka, MT; four grandchildren, Lisena, Stefani, Charlie and Christian Brown; two sisters, Viola Moody of Skyland and Hazel Lance of Arden; one brother, E.A. Butler of Arden as well as several nieces and nephews. Lillie also loved and enjoyed her extended family members, Carl and Ron Moody, both of Jacksonville, FL, Sandy Markum of Ocala, FL, Debbie Young of Wildwood, FL as well as extended grandchildren.
A graveside service will he held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery with the Reverend Cecil Robinson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

Love and condolences to all the family. Robert & Charlie, your mom will be greatly missed but wonderfully remembered. She was a precious, Godly lady and good friend, mother and grandmother.

We loved Lillie very much. We came to admire both her and Charles very much during her treatment at Hope. She was a wonderful lady with a beautiful spirit. Her grace and courage will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Ms Lillie. She was a very special lady. She was so proud when her hair came back. She told me never to give up and gave me a lot of strength to keep going. We will all miss her.
