Fletcher – Linda Gail Ray, 62, of Fletcher, died Thursday, September 15, 2022 at her residence.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Ned and Juanita Ray. She was also preceded in death by multiple aunts and uncles as well as a cousin, Brian Whitaker.
Linda worked for Buncombe County Schools Progressive Education Program for 27 years. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, helping others, spending time with her family and taking adventures with her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Ray; three daughters, Mandi Carter of Asheville, Amanda Ray of Hendersonville and Ashley Ray of Asheville; five grandchildren, Kyndall, Jordan, Hunter, Covi and Zoey; one brother, Ricky Ray and his wife Karen of Fletcher as well as two nieces, Jami and Morgan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, September 17 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Linda’s family asks that you consider making a contribution in her memory to the Buncombe County Schools Progressive Education Program at pep.buncombeschools.org.

I was so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. She fought a long hard battle. Prayers to her and her family at this difficult time.

I am so sorry to read of Linda’s passing. While working together at PEP, we shared so many laughs at the hilarious things which so often happened, as well as so many smiles of deep love for the precious kids we taught.
